My tea bag had a message for me yesterday as I was preparing my cup of cocoa chai.
This one resonated with me. Not because I’m uncomfortable with myself, but because lately I can appreciate the need to stand behind decisions made, which is much easier done with a strong sense of self. Planning a wedding, attempting to merge your life with someone else’s, making professional decisions… each move makes a statement.
Mark Twain was a literary icon and a humorist. I can only assume he would want us to embrace our true selves with a good dose of humor. So, over my cup of chai I resolved to be me by remembering what’s important and finding humor in all the rest. (Is it acceptable to bring your wedding gown to the limo service to make sure it fits in the vehicle before booking? Because I kind of want to.)

Hi, you don’t know me- but i was referred to you via a facebook friend and customer. i just opened a small restaurant in downtown scranton- i am open very late.. I would like you to do a review of my food. (please not today… lol …the peach festival will be in town) I can offer you some insight as to your wedding gown. i used to own a limo business before 9/11… there are several things you have to consider when booking your limo for the wedding-
1) you want to see and hire the EXACT VEHICLE that you fell in love with in the “showcase” or at the limo office.
2) You would like to meet YOUR DRIVER ahead of time. Knowing WHO is going to pick you up is very calming.
3) If you are having a SUMMER wedding- get in the limo, with a sweater on, in the summer- and fill it with your friends- sit in the car with it IDLING and the A/C on for a few minutes.
these are the biggest issues- switched cars- bad drivers- defective or underpowered AC units. Most limos have problems with the AC even if they are new. This is because they were not designed to be cooled off by the small pumps that the limo retro-fitters install.
Be sure to find out if they are providing a “red carpet” and a lace church runner as well. These things will help make sure that your limo ride is a good one. The runner keeps your dress from dragging and getting soiled. The red carpet keeps your dress and shoes from getting soiled as well.
Not all limo rides are equal… many companies that specialize in bridal services- “wedding specialists” have oversize doors made just for the bride’s convenience.
