Since I’m working backwards in the telling of my Chicago trip, the next thing to blog about is the main event! My good friend, Wendy, and her husband, Joe, worked tirelessly for more than a year to put together this gorgeous event, and it showed. It was one of the most beautiful, love-filled weddings I have ever attended.
First, us ladies had to get all dolled up, so Wendy had us spend the first part of the day brunching, saloning, and getting dressed. It was such a lovely moment watching Wendy put on her gown!
I got a little teary when Wendy’s mom helped her with her veil, because I’m a huge sap. My sappiness was multiplied by the fact that I’ll be doing all this in less than a year!
Of course, it was pouring when we boarded the bus to go to the venue. But it stopped by the time we arrived at Cafe Brauer so we could take pictures outside!
Cafe Brauer is actually located in the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. No animals here, though. Just a stunning room, where the ceremony and reception were held.
The ceremony was brief but very emotional. Wendy’s Godfather served as the officiant (and did a fantastic job with his first wedding!) and several readings were done by loved ones.
I didn’t do a very good job of holding back the tears. Fortunately, the adorable bridesmaid dresses had POCKETS for my tissues!
One of my favorite personal touches… the place cards were attached to stones from Topsail Island, NC. It’s where Wendy spent many family vacations, and it’s also where the couple is honeymooning right now!
The reception was a blast, and Wendy and Joe looked so in love!
Mr. Dish and I can’t wait to go back to Chicago, and we can’t wait to visit our friends again! Best wishes to you, Wendy and Joe! Thanks for an amazing time!
