So Happy (Marathoning) TogeTHER!

5 Jun

In the excitement of our Oddyssey Half Marathon weekend, I neglected to share a very exciting piece of news.  Let me set this up for you…

It’s the night before the race and the four of us (Mr. Dish, MOH, her hubby and me) are sitting around the table eating dinner.  (I know – at the table!  Eating!  It’s like we’re grown-ups or something.)  We’re having very civilized conversation when MOH – my best friend since the second grade – suddenly says, “I have some very exciting news…”

My heart immediately starts racing.  They’ve been married for approximately 1.7 years and they just bought a house… what ELSE would their exciting news be???  (Also – no one in our group of friends from high school has a baby yet.  It’s like we’re all sneakily looking around at each other thinking, “Are you going first??? I’m not going first.”)

Here’s the worst part… she actually says the words, “We’re having a baby!” followed immediately by… “No!  We’re not, I’m just kidding!”  So not funny.  I WILL get her back.

Turns out her “exciting news” is that she and Mr. MOH are signed up for the Steamtown Marathon!!!  Their first full!  My dear Matron of Honor has wanted to check this accomplishment off her bucket list for years, and now she finally will!  Naturally, they were torn about signing up because of the time and effort involved in training.  But in the end, they decided there’s no time like the present, and snagged up two spots before it sold out.  They are both such great runners, and I’m so happy they’ve chosen such a beautiful (and beautifully organized!) marathon for their first one.  MOH says it’ll be her only one.  We shall see!
