Once a month, Kerry and I get measured at Bridal Bootcamp. We’ve had two measurement days thus far. It’s so tempting to call them “weigh ins,” but I can’t because we don’t get weighed! It’s an exciting, scary day all the same. Because, you know, any contraption that’s going to evaluate all your blood, sweat and tears (OK maybe just sweat) in one cold, hard number isn’t really something I want to hang out with.
Instead of weighing in, we get our body fat analyzed and we get measured using a tape measure. The above fat-measuring device pinches four places… bicep, tricep, your back just below your shoulder, and the side of your stomach. When we had our starting measurements taken, I had NEVER had my body fat measured before so I was very curious and very nervous. I was relieved to find out that I was within the normal, healthy range for a female my age.
Well I am slowly creeping down towards the “fitness” body fat range. In two months I’ve lost 4% body fat, and Kerry has lost 6%! Our measurements are also slowly shrinking…
This month I lost half and inch to an inch in most places. (I even lost half an inch in my NECK! I didn’t know I had fat there to lose!) It’s pretty crazy, because my weight has STAYED THE SAME! Well, maybe it’s not so crazy… I know muscle weighs more than fat and takes up less room than fat. But this is the first time I’ve actually had numbers to back that up!
So two months in, it looks like the program Greg at GregWorks has built for us is really working. I eat every 2-3 hours… just more protein and fewer carbs. Because I’ve been upping my running mileage recently, I’ve had to put more carbs back in for more energy.
So Kerry and I are well on our way to bridal fitness. Stay tuned for more updates!
